    1.         About ZJU-UIUC Institute

The ZJU-UIUC Institute is a partnership between Zhejiang University in China and the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in the United States. The institute is committed to educating innovators in engineering and leaders of tomorrow. It provides extraordinary learning experiences with boundless possibilities.

    Top-tier Universities in the world

Zhejiang University (ZJU) is one of China's oldest and most prestigious higher education institutions. The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC) is a renowned public research university in the United States with global impact.

    2.         Academic Programs

The ZJU-UIUC Institute offers English-based undergraduate programs in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, computer engineering, and civil engineering, and plans to expand into other fields of engineering and science as it grows. Students work in an interactive learning environment with extensive laboratory and project content.  There is broad multidisciplinary interaction among the programs.

    1)         Electrical Engineering

Electrical engineering is a multifaceted discipline and has produced an astounding progression of technological innovations that have shaped virtually every aspect of modern life. It is a rapidly evolving discipline based on the application of math, physics, and computation to address the needs of our networked information-age society.  Electronics, energy, control, robotics, optics, communications, and sensing are just a few of the areas addressed.

    2)         Computer Engineering

Computer engineering addresses computing systems from top to bottom C from application software to operating systems to hardware and circuits. Machine learning, pattern analysis from large data sets, portable devices, and high-performance computing are some of the areas considered. Computer engineers create the wide array of computing systems, networks, and devices that we all use and depend upon every day.

    3)         Mechanical Engineering

Mechanical engineering affects almost all aspects of our lives and embraces many areas of specialization: transportation systems, combustion and propulsion, mechanical design methodology and tribology, dynamic systems and controls, energy systems and thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, heat transfer, manufacturing and production, materials behavior and processing, and micro-scale and nano-scale properties and systems.

    4)         Civil Engineering

Civil and environmental engineers are responsible for the design and construction of civil and marine infrastructure at local, national, and global scales. They design buildings and cities, bridges, offshore structures, highway systems, rail and urban transport networks, airports, dams, canals, and water treatment and distribution systems, to name a few.  Environmental engineers carry out all aspects of environmental management, pollution prevention and remediation, air and water quality management, and help create methods for sustainable development.

    3.         Dual Degree

Students admitted to above programs are enrolled in both Zhejiang University and the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

Students who successfully complete the program and meet the requirements of both universities will receive two bachelors degrees in their respective major fields:

Bachelor of Science from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign

Bachelor of Engineering from Zhejiang University
