Youth of Excellence Scheme of China Program

Chinese Government Scholarship – Youth of Excellence Scheme of China (YES China) Program is a full scholarship program, established by the Ministry of Education of China, aiming to provide education opportunities to the outstanding talents worldwide who share global vision, possess excellent leadership capability and cross-cultural competence.
Ⅰ. Coverage of the Scholarship: Full Scholarship
1. Tuition waiver;
2. Free accommodation on campus;
3. Stipend: Granted in accordance with relevant standard;
4. Comprehensive Medical Insurance (Please refer to the relevant chapters in the application guide for details);

Ⅱ. Available Programs
1. Master program in Energy and Power Engineering (Link)
Duration of studies: Two years (“1+1” Mode)
Teaching language: English
2. Master program in China Studies (Link)
Duration of studies: One year
Teaching language: English
3. Master program in Chinese Economy (Link)
Duration of studies: Two years (“1+1” Mode)
Teaching language: English
* “1+1” Mode is a joint program mode which requires students to do full-time course study, research work and preparation for thesis writing at Zhejiang University in their first academic year. Students are required to go back to their home countries to complete their thesis writing based on their working experience, and pass thesis defense in their second academic year.
Ⅲ. Eligibility
1.Applicants (under 45 years old) must be non-Chinese citizens with good physical and psychological health.
2.Bachelor degree holder or above, with at least 3 years’ work experience. Those with related education or working background will be preferred.
3.Applicants must fall into one of the following four categories:
3.1 Senior governmental officials at the division chief level (or equivalent level) or above;
3.2 Senior management staffs of institutions and enterprises;
3.3 Administrative staffs of colleges and universities;
3.4 Those who have relevant work experience or internship in international organizations.
IV. Application Deadline, Documents and Process
February 28, 2026 (The deadline is Beijing Time and includes the day itself.)
1. Applicants must log in to the Online Application System For International Students of Zhejiang University (Link), clearly fill in and completely upload the application materials as required. After completing online application, ZJU Application Form should be downloaded and sent to admissionmaster@zju.edu.cn by February 28, 2026, with the title Application for Youth of Excellence Scheme of China Program Chinese Government Scholarship.
In addition to the application documents required in the application guide of Master's Degree Programs and Doctoral Degree Programs, scholarship applicants must also upload the following supplementary materials. .
1.1 Foreigner Physical Examination Form(Click the filename to download). This form is uniformly printed by the Chinese health and quarantine department and needs to be filled out in English.
The medical examinations must cover all the items listed in the Foreigner Physical Examination Form. Incomplete records or those without the signature of the attending physician, the official stamp of the hospital or a sealed photograph of the applicants are invalid. In view of the fact that the examination results are valid for 6 months, applicants are requested to reasonably arrange the time for their physical examination accordingly.
1.2 Non-Criminal Record Certificate. The applicant shall submit a valid certificate of Non-Criminal Record issued by the local public security authority within 6 months prior to the submission date of the application.
1.3 Employment Certificate or Work Experience Certificate.
2. The Pre-admission Notice will be sent to applicants who pass the review of the university via mail.
3.Applicants who have received Pre-admission Notice shall fill in and submit application via the CSC Online Application System for Study in China (Link) by March 31, 2026. (The scholarship is Type A in the CSC system, the agency number is 1563)
Ⅴ. Review of Scholarship Application & Notification of Results
China Scholarship Council will process application and review documents directly, and make final decision on the award of the Scholarship.
Applicants will be informed about their application results via Online Application System for International Students in early July, 2026.
VI. Notes
1. Scholarship recipients are required to be managed in accordance with the relevant regulations of the Chinese Government Scholarship after their arrival in China.
2. The International College of Zhejiang University is responsible for the interpretation of the scholarship granting procedures and regulations.
