The Scholarship Program for International Ph.D. Students Offered by College of Optical Science and Engineering, Zhejiang University (ZJU-COSE)
In recognition of graduate students who demonstrate exceptional academic merit and wish to undertake the Ph.D. student program in the College of Optical Science and Engineering, Zhejiang University (ZJU-COSE), the scholarship is offered to support their continued outstanding achievements in future study.
I. Coverage of the Scholarship:
- Tuition fee;
- Accommodation on campus;
- Stipend: RMB 3,500 per month ;
- Comprehensive Medical Insurance (Please refer to the relevant chapters in the application guide for details).
II. Eligibility
1. Be graduated from the universities which are among the top 50 universities recognized by the “QS World University Rankings”, or be graduated from the top three universities in the home country of the applicant recognized by the “QS World University Rankings” if the applicant is from “Belt and Road”countries.
2. Not be concurrent beneficiaries of other scholarships.
3. Qualified for international Ph.D. student admission at Zhejiang University, please refer to the application guide for details.
III. Application Duration and Process
Application deadline: February 28, 2025 (Beijing Time)
1. Applicants must log in to the Online Application System for International Students of Zhejiang University (Link), clearly fill in and completely upload the application materials as required.
In addition to the application documents required in the application guide of Doctoral Degree Programs, scholarship applicants must submit the following supplementary materials:
- Application Form for Scholarship of College of Optical Science and Engineering (Download). This form needs to be uploaded in the “Other Material” box in the Online Application System.
- Photocopy of Foreigner Physical Examination Form (Download). This form is uniformly printed by the Chinese health and quarantine department and needs to be filled out in English.The medical examinations must cover all the items listed in the Foreigner Physical Examination Form. Incomplete records or those without the signature of the attending physician, the official stamp of the hospital or a sealed photograph of the applicants are invalid. In view of the fact that the examination results are valid for 6 months, applicants are requested to reasonably arrange the time for their physical examination accordingly.
- Non-Criminal Record Certificate. The applicant shall submit a valid certificate of Non-Criminal Record issued by the local public security authority, usually issued within 6 months prior to the submission date of the application.
- Applicants are encouraged to provide GRE、NTS-GAT test score.
2. Applicants should send the application form for scholarship and resume to：wenting@zju.edu.cn (email subject: Application number + Passport name + major).
Notes:
1. Those with incomplete application materials or those who do not meet the requirements will not be accepted.
2. Please do NOT post hard copies of the application materials or send them by e-mail, which will not be reviewed and processed.
3. Supplementary materials may be required when necessary.
IV. Application Fee
Application fee: RMB 800 yuan (non-refundable)
Application fee should be paid in the online application system of Zhejiang University before deadline. One who fails to pay application fee, his or her application will not be processed.
V. Review of Scholarship Application & Notification of Results
1. The university will conduct a preliminary review of the applicant's materials. Those who pass the preliminary review will take video interview arranged by academic schools. The university enrollment will be made on the basis of competitive selection according to the applicants’ research ability, academic performance, language proficiency, performance during video interview, etc.
2. The scholarship result will be notified via email.
VI. Notes
1. Scholarship students who are unable to register due to health or other personal reasons will be disqualified from admission and scholarship.
2. For scholarship students who are unable to continue their studies due to health or other personal reasons and need to apply for suspension or withdrawal, the scholarship eligibility will not be retained.
3. Should there be any change in the above contents, the final interpretation from the College of Optical Science and Engineering, Zhejiang University shall prevail.
