The 2015 International Student Badmint Competition in ZJU Held Successfully

To strengthen the bond between foreign students in Zhejiang University and promote a healthy lifestyle among university students, after two months of planning, the 2015 international students�� badminton competition was held on the 18th and 19th of April at the badminton court in Zijingang Campus.


This event was held by the International College of Zhejiang University and was organized by MASZU. There were a total of 96 contestants from 18 different countries participating in this competition. Preliminary competitions and the semi-finals were held on the first day followed by the finals in the second day. The five categories in this competition were men and women singles, men doubles, women doubles and mixed doubles.

On the 18th of April, all the contestants registered early in the morning and a brief introduction about the rules and regulations of the overall competition was given. The competition went on in a tense atmosphere as everyone was competing to be the first in their respective categories. Unfortunately, there were some contestants injured during the competition and had to quit the preliminaries. During the finals on the second day, there was a crowd of audiences gathered at the stadium. They were cheering and roaring for their friends and countrymen as contestants were competing with each other.

In the end, eight contestants came out as the winners of each category. The prize giving ceremony was officiated by a teacher representative of the International College of Zhejiang University, Mr. Ye and the president of MSAZU, Ng Yew Kang. The winners for men single are Lee Zhi Yu (Malaysia), women single Tan Xue Ying (Malaysia), men doubles Lee Zhi Yu (Malaysia) and  Suwat (Thailand), women doubles Tan Win Yen and Irene Vun Pei Sing (Malaysia) and finally for mixed doubles Rachot and Phantira (Thailand).

After this badminton competition, both laughter and friendship were shared among the committee and the contestants. What��s more, it also provided a great platform for foreign students to make new friends and communicate with others.
