2012 ZJU-UWA ��Study in China�� Program Successfully Dropping the Curtain

The closing ceremony of the ZJU-UWA ��Study inChina�� program was held on December 27th, 2012, after 4 weeks of language learning and a series of social and cultural activities starting from December 2nd. Prof. Xu Weimin, the Vice-dean of theInternationalCollegedelivered the closing speech and professors from theInternationalCollegeawarded program certificates to all the students. Some students got excellent student awards and talent awards because of their hard study and art works. Moreover, with the help from their teachers, students put on a small performance during the closing ceremony.

The four-week long program though was short, allowed students to take all-round intensive Chinese language training and cultural, sightseeing tours and company visits. Besides learning Chinese language, they also attended cultural lectures and learned Chinese calligraphy and paper-cutting. They experienced Chinese culture through the visits toHefang Street-the Song Dynasty style street and Hu-qing-yu-tang Chinese medicine museum, etc. They also had a taste of Chinese life by going to local restaurants and markets. In these 4 weeks, the students have managed to seeChinafrom various perspectives and acquire many unforgettable moments.

��Study inChina�� program is a short-term project initially organized by the Confucius Institute at UWA. This year is the eighth year of the program, and 96 UWA students from 8 countries spent 4 happy and fruitful weeks inZhejiangUniversity. The program, usually with a length of 10 weeks, is divided into two segments, one inHangzhouand the other inBeijingand is open to both college students and the off-campus public. ��Study inChina�� program is a very mature program now and attracts more and more students each year. It is also a symbol of the strong links betweenZhejiangUniversityand theUniversityofWestern Australia.
