Contestant from the Confucius Institute at the University of Western Australia Speaks at the Launching Ceremony of the 11th ��Chinese Bridge�� Chinese Proficiency Competition for Foreign Secondary Schoo

    On the morning of October11th, the press conference and launching ceremony of the 11th ��Chinese Bridge�� ChineseProficiency Competition for Foreign Secondary School Students was held atYunnan Normal University. The competition themed with ��Learn Chinese, Double Your World�� was co-hostedby Confucius Institute Headquarters (Hanban) and the People��s Government of Yunnan Province andorganized by Yunnan Provincial Education Department, Yunnan Normal Universityand Yunnan Radio and Television Station.


    The competition was attended by 216 contestants and 111 team-leadingteachers from 110 divisions of 99 countries throughout the world, which made itthe largest event compared with previous ones, with the largest number ofparticipating countries and participants. At the launching ceremony, AnnaBullard from Rossmoyne Senior High School in Perth, Western Australia recommendedby the Confucius Institute at the University of Western Australia spoke onbehalf of all the contestants and shared her experience of learning Chinese.

    Anna Bullard, who is 15 yearsold, said she was enthusiastic about learning Chinese and dreamed of having a Chinese-related job in the future. Shealso expressed her excitement of coming to China for the final contest. InApril of this year, Anna participated in a spring camp organized by theConfucius Institute at the University of Western Australia and ZhejiangUniversity.

The Confucius Institute at the University of WesternAustralia which is a sister college of Zhejiang University has won the honorarytitle of ��Outstanding Confucius Institute�� twice.
