To promote fine traditional Chinese culture and help international students gain a deeper understanding of Chinese intangible cultural heritage, the International College and SQTP Project Team, recently organized a cloisonné making experience activity. Through hands-on practice, students were able to appreciate the beauty of traditional craftsmanship and helped build a bridge for cultural exchange.

At the beginning of the activity, Mr. Li Yang gave a detailed introduction to the history and as well as the development and integration of Chinese cloisonné and Western enamel techniques, explaining each step, from base making and filigree inlay to glaze filling and polishing, guiding students to explore this intangible cultural heritage step by step.

Then came the hands-on session. Students worked together to complete preparatory steps such as washing materials and mixing pigments , laying the groundwork for the coloring process.Under the teacher’s guidance, students carefully applied colors and patiently filled in every pattern. As their brushes moved, traditional motifs gradually came to life with vibrant colors, showcasing a fusion of Chinese and Western aesthetics within the delicate enamel work.The finished pieces were not only the result of hands-on practice, but also a vivid expression of cross-cultural dialogue.

This activity enabled international students to experience the charm of Chinese intangible cultural heritage up close, while also gaining insight into the spirit of craftsmanship and cultural inheritance through practice. In the future, the International College will continue to tell China's stories well and make the voice of China heard, allowing traditional Chinese culture to thrive through exchange and fostering mutual learning among civilizations.
