As spring breathed new life into the earth, Yunfeng Academy organized a joint labour education activity for Chinese and international students. Designed to promote cross-cultural exchange and cultivate the spirit of hands-on learning, the event brought together students from diverse backgrounds for a rewarding journey of agricultural practice, teamwork, and friendship.

Discovering Medicinal Plants: Learning from Nature

The activity began with a visit to the Shen Nong Herbal Garden, where students explored a wide variety of traditional Chinese medicinal plants under the guidance of Dong Zhengzhong, Field Manager of the Agricultural Experiment Station. Through engaging explanations of the plants' characteristics and medicinal uses, participants gained a deeper understanding of traditional Chinese medicine and a greater appreciation of its rich cultural heritage.

Learning Through Practice: Working Together in the Fields

Students rolled up their sleeves and took part in hands-on farming activities. Equipped with hoes and other farming tools, they worked side by side in the fields, identifying and removing weeds to help ensure healthy crop growth. Through cooperation and shared effort, they experienced the value of teamwork while gaining a first-hand understanding of the dedication and perseverance required in agricultural work.

Sharing the Harvest: Enjoying the Fruits of Labour

After their work in the fields, the students gathered to enjoy freshly cooked potatoes that they had harvested together. More than just a simple meal, the shared harvest symbolized the rewards of hard work and the friendships formed through collaboration. As they enjoyed the food together, they also created meaningful and memorable moments of cross-cultural exchange.

The successful conclusion of the event left not only well-tended farmland in the Shen Nong Herbal Garden, but also lasting memories of cooperation and friendship among the participants.

Farming is an art that requires patience, responsibility, and teamwork. Through this labour education activity, students not only expanded their agricultural knowledge but also experienced the joy of nurturing life and cultivating friendships that transcend national borders.
