Twenty-seven Chinese Government Scholarship Students set off for the three-day trip of “Knowing China-Chinese Government Scholarship Students Economic and Cultural Experience” on November 11, 2015. More than one hundred Chinese Government Scholarship students from eight universities in Zhejiang Province were invited to attend. The opening ceremony for this activity was held in the student activity center of Zhejiang Normal University. After the opening ceremony, students were enjoying themselves in learning Chinese paper cutting, making Chinese knot, trying Chinese brush writing, seeing the performance of tea art and putting on Han Fu to make a bow with hands folded in front. They even busied themselves practicing Tai Ji.Later, the students took bus to Dong Yang for a visit of the renowned local art of wood carving. The exquisite pieces of wood carving works have earned endless compliments from the students. Besides, in Hengdian, another famous thing about Dong Yang, the students visited the fabulous sight spot in the misty drizzle--- Riverside Scene at Qingming Festival. On the second day of the trip, Professor Xuan Bingshan from College of International Education of Zhejiang Normal University delivered a speech about Chinese ancient theory of Yin and Yang and the Taoist culture. Students were attracted by Professor Xuan’s humor and knowledge. They showed a great interest in his lecture and raised lots of questions. Later the students visited the ceramic art show at Zhejiang Normal University, closely observing the ceramic arts from different historical times. In the evening, the climax came when students arrived at the ancient village Siping in Jinhua. Students immersed themselves in the story of Yinniang and kept taking photos of Huizhou-style houses. They dwelled in the houses of local hospitable residents, tasting the common country food and homemade wine in such an unusual way. Although they stay there for only one night, they have built a deep connection with Siping and its villagers, to whom they reluctantly bid farewell. Due to these activities, students have a deeper understanding about Chinese ancient culture. The destination of the third day trip is Yiwu. There, students made nice conversation with the staff of the Taobao Village and asked for their suggestion about starting E-business. There, they all feel the rapid growth of Chinese economy.Students are reluctant to end this intense and meaningful three-day trip. They take it as the most meaningful trip after they arrived in China and extend their thanks to Chinese government and Zhejiang University. Zhu Yi
